The persons permitted to sell contraceptive sheaths or spermicides are: pharmaceutical chemists or chemists and druggists at chemist shops; registered medical practitioners at the place where they ordinarily carry out their professional duties; the servants or agents of family planning services licensed by the Minister where the sale is made at the place where the family planning service is being made available; employees of health boards acting as such and where the sale is made at a health institution; and employees of maternity hospitals or hospitals providing services for the treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and the sale is made at the hospital.
There is no specific licensing required in respect of sale of contraceptive sheaths or spermicides by any of these sales outlets except in the case of family planning services.
Family planning services are each required to hold the consent of the Minister for Health in respect of the provision of a family planning service under section 3 (3) of the Health (Family Planning) Act, 1979. The following at present have my consent in respect of the provision of a family planning service at the place(s) shown:
