Vol. 405 No. 9

Written Answers. - Departmental Expenditure.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

209 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he will disaggregate the figure for consultancy services of his Department for 1990 and 1991 and outline (1) to whom each payment is to be or has been made and (2) the reportservice for which each has been paid.

Expenditure on consultancies by my Department in 1990 was as follows:

Stokes, Kennedy, Crowley — Access Transport Study

£223,430

Stokes, Kennedy, Crowley — B & I Study

£169,186

Eolas — Tachograph type-testing

£22,000

Eolas — Telecommunications Equipment Testing

£4,165

Ashford Marine Ltd. — Aran Ferries Study

£14,000

Deloitte, Haskins, Sells — Schools Transport System

£13,837

Miscellaneous minor consultancies and technical assistance

£27,686

Total:

£474,305

A sum of £391,000 for consultancy services is provided under the Tourism, Transport and Communications Vote for 1991. It is expected that payments will be made for consultant advice on matters such as information technology, corporate finance and for technical assistance in the areas of air navigation, road haulage and broadcasting. It is not possible to provide a full break-down of consultancy costs for 1991 at this stage.
