Vol. 405 No. 9

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan — the refusal by the Minister for Education to give a grant for an extension at Tralee sports complex, County Kerry despite the fact that the money was committed in 1989; (2) Deputy Charles Flanagan — the matter of the selling practices being employed by timeshare apartment sales representatives in this country; (3) Deputy Eamon Gilmore — the subject matter of Parliamentary Question No. 62 on 28 February 1991, concerning St. Kevins school, Sallynoggin, County Dublin; (4) Deputy Pat McCartan — the restoration of walkie talkie radios to mobile patrol members of An Garda Síochána while in duty in the Dublin area; (5) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need for a new dental teaching hospital in Dublin; (6) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa — the problem of youth homelessness in Ballymun and the need for the building of a purpose built youth hostel in the area; (7) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the difficulties being experienced by the North Eastern Health Board, and other State agencies, in the location of suitable residential care accommodation for young female teenagers in County Louth; (8) Deputy Roger Garland — the considerable public disquiet at the continued failure of the Government to grant diplomatic recognition to the three Baltic states who recently voted over-whelmingly for independence and (9) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need for the Minister for Education to ensure a balanced representation on the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies (1) Deputy Charles Flanagan, (2) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa and (3) Deputy Dermot Ahern.
