Question:

61 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance the estimated cost of tax relief on (a) loan interest, mortgages and other interests (b) VHI premia (c) life assurance premia (d) health expenses (e) permanent health insurance and (f) covenants; and the number of taxpayers affected by each of the above categories.

The following table sets out the information requested in terms of income tax year 1990-91 except where otherwise indicated.

The estimate are provisional and are likely to be revised.
