79 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will issue a directive to the appropriate authorities which will permit applicants on FÁS work schemes to be favourably considered for subsidised beef under EC beef schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The quantity of beef available is strictly limited and it has been necessary for my Department to identify specific beneficiaries in consultation with the Department of Social Welfare.
The beneficiaries include FÁS trainees who were in receipt of long term unemployment assistance immediately prior to commencing their FÁS courses.
