Question:68 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education the total number of students which it is projected will be enrolled in each of the regional technical colleges for the school years 1991-92 to 1999-2000 inclusive.
Written Answers. - Student Enrolments.
As a result of initiatives set out in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, the provision for third-level places will exceed the estimates furnished to the Deputy in response to Questions Nos. 186 and 187 of 4 November 1989.
Almost 9,000 additional places will be provided in the near term as a result of these initiatives. The position with regard to medium to longer-term needs will be kept under review, and the projections updated accordingly. In the circumstances, it would not be realistic at this time to attempt to project student enrolments by institution.
