Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Health Board Ambulances.

Bernard Allen

Question:

222 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 131 of 13 March 1991, he will outline the health boards which are importing reconditioned second hand ambulances; and the number which each health board is importing as well as the age of each ambulance.

The purchase of the ambulances referred to is being co-ordinated by the Mid-Western Health Board and to date two other health boards — the North-Western and the Midland—have expressed an interest in the vehicles. The precise numbers of vehicles has yet to be decided upon by each board.

The ambulances date from 1986-87 and while it is not possible to give a final cost at this stage it is estimated that each ambulance will cost in the region of £4,500.
