Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Tourism Sector Jobs.

Michael Creed

Question:

25 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he has satisfied himself with the number of full-time jobs being created in the tourism sector.

The targets for tourism set in the Programme for National Recovery for the five year period 1988-92 include the creation of 25,000 new jobs.

By the end of 1990 estimates for employment sustained by tourism activity stood at 80,000 jobs, representing an average annual increase of 5,000 jobs since 1987, which is in line with the Government targets.
