Vol. 406 No. 7

Written Answers. - Mullingar-Dublin Train Service.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

57 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if he has received a request from Iarnród Éireann for funds to improve the Mullingar-Dublin train service; if so, the response he has made to the request; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I previously indicated to the House, I have given approval to CIE for investment of £18 million on the provision of new rolling stock, some of which will be used to improve the commuter rail service on the Mullingar-Dublin line.

In addition that service has recently been upgraded through the provision of four new commuter rail stations at Confey (Leixlip), Coolmine, Castleknock and Broombridge.
