Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Threatened Closure of Clonmel, Tipperary, Plant.

Peter Barry

Question:

184 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the action he proposes to take to prevent the closure of the Digital Plant in Clonmel, County Tipperary as its closure would have a significant effect on employment in that town.

While the information sought by the Deputy relates to the day to day responsibility of the Industrial Development Authority and is not a matter in which I have a direct function, nevertheless I can inform him that every effort is being made to avoid a closure of the Clonmel facility. I am assured by the IDA that they are making every possible effort to assist the company.
