Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Ivan Yates

Question:

205 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether disability benefit entitlements will be reconsidered for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford on an appeal basis and when a second medical referee hearing will be arranged in this regard.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 5 January 1991 to 14 March 1991 after which date benefit was disallowed, following an examination by the medical referee on 7 March 1991, who found the person capable of work.

An appeal against this decision was received on 27 March 1991 and arrangements are being made to have a second medical examination carried out as soon as possible.

The person concerned will be notified as soon as these arrangements are finalised.
