Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Queries By Deputies.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

217 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice the reason telephone queries from Deputies may not be dealt with directly by sections within his Department; if he considers that filtering all information through the Minister's office, rather than having queries dealt with by officers directly employed in sections, represents the most efficient means of responding to Deputies queries; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has been the policy of successive Ministers for Justice that telephone inquiries from public representatives to the Department should be directed to the Minister's office. I am satisfied that this arrangement is appropriate and is conducive to an efficient and co-ordinated response being provided to such inquiries.
