Vol. 407 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Departmental Employees.

Michael Bell

Question:

23 Mr. Bell asked the Taoiseach the number engaged as special advisers in his Department, who are not civil or public servants; the range and duties involved in each case and whether they are permitted to be members of a political party while they hold such appointments.

I have engaged five special advisers who are not subject to the recruitment and tenure provisions for civil or public servants.

Three advisers have duties which are as assigned from time to time. The other two advisers advise respectively on matters pertaining to the arts and culture and the environment.

Membership, if any, of political parties is permitted in so far as it does not conflict with their assignments as special advisers.

Chomh fada agus a bhaineann sé le Roinn na Gaeltachta, níl a leithéid i gceist.
