Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Aircraft Accident Investigation Files.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

335 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications if, in relation to the abortive attempt to raise the fuselage of the crashed Aer Lingus viscount St. Phelim from the sea bed, there is any visual record known to or in the possession of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The accident investigation files in my Department relating to the accident involving the Aer Lingus Viscount aircraft near Tuskar Rock, County Wexford, on 24 March 1968, have been examined and there are no photographs or other visual records therein relating to the attempt to raise part of the fuselage from the sea. Furthermore, I have no knowledge of the existence elsewhere of any such photographs or visual records.
