Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Citizens in El Salvador.

Michael Noonan

Question:

83 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has any plans to appoint an honorary consul to El Salvador; if he will outline the arrangements which have been made by him to ensure that the rights of Irish citizens in El Salvador are safeguarded; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As Ireland already has an honorary consul in El Salvador, there are no plans for any new appointment.

It is the job of the honorary consul as Ireland's official representative in El Salvador to ensure that the rights of the small number of Irish citizens in that country are fully safeguarded. I am unaware of any reports that this is not the case.
