Vol. 407 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roscommon Archaeological Site.

John Connor

Question:

138 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the progress made of the proposed joint development and restoration programme being undertaken by the Office of Public Works and Roscommon County Council at the archaeological site Rathcroghan, County Roscommon; and if he will give details of the extent of the proposed development and restoration works to be carried out.

I understand that Roscommon County Council have plans to provide a visitors car-park at Rathcroghan. The Commissioners of Public Works have agreed to provide £2,000 towards the provision of an access route to the site. A tiled display panel of the site has been prepared for erection in the proposed car-park.

There are no plans to carry out restoration works at the site.
