Vol. 407 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

Ivan Yates

Question:

40 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance whether a person (details supplied) in County Wexford has been given a correct tax free allowance; if not, if it will be corrected immediately in order that he will not have to pay arrears of tax at the end of the tax year; and when his income tax affairs will be brought up to date accurately.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an amended certificate of tax free allowances for the current tax year 1991-92 was issued to the taxpayer on 22 April 1991. The position may need to be adjusted if his wife takes up employment before 5 April 1992. The inspector of taxes is writing to the taxpayer to explain the position.
