Vol. 407 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Numbers.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

82 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice the Garda Síochána strength on 1 March in each of the years from 1987 to 1991 inclusive in (a) Clonmel, (b) Cahir, (c) Cashel, (d) Tipperary, (e) Carrick-on-Suir and (f) Fethard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The particulars sought in the question are set out in the following table. The precise allocation of Garda manpower to individual stations varies from time to time in the light of changing needs and circumstances. The numbers assigned to Clonmel, Cahir and Tipperary stations, which are district headquarters stations, include specialist staff and units that operate on a district basis. I am informed by the Garda authorities that an additional garda will be assigned to Carrick-on-Suir in early May.
