Vol. 407 No. 4

Written Answers. - Postal Votes.

Richard Bruton

Question:

93 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the provisions which will be in force for obtaining postal votes in the forthcoming local elections, and in particular, whether he has any proposals to facilitate those who may be unavoidably away at the date of the election due to their work or to holiday arrangements.

The categories of electors entitled to vote by post at presidential, Dáil, European and local elections and at referenda are members of the Garda Síochána and the Defence Forces and diplomats posted abroad and their spouses who are resident with them.

I have no proposals to change the law relating to postal voting at the local elections.
