Vol. 407 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Nora Owen — if the Minister for Foreign Affairs will make immediate emergency aid available for the victims of the typhoon in Bangladesh; (2) Deputy Pat McCartan — the need for the Minister for the Environment to introduce a special amenity order for the Howth peninsula, as a last and vital resort to protect the architectural and scenic amenities of the area against unwarranted and undesirable developments; (3) Deputy Eamon Gilmore — the delay in implementing the new housing policies which were contained in the Government's Plan for Social Housing; (4) Deputy Sean Ryan — the delay in proceeding with the construction of the proposed Fingal community college, Swords; and (5) Deputy Tony Gregory — the allocation from the Department of the Environment to Dublin Corporation for their 1991 plans to refurbish rundown inner city flat complexes and the inadequacy of this allocation to meet the Corporation's priority proposals or to provide washing facilities for the 140 families living in St. Joseph's Mansions, Dublin 1.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies (1) Deputy Nora Owen, (2) Deputy Pat McCartan and (3) Deputy Tony Gregory.
