Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Alternative Employment at Galway Works Site.

Michael P. Kitt

Question:

104 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Finance if he will have discussions with the county development teams in Counties Galway and Roscommon on the progress made to date on setting up a task force to secure alternative employment at the Bord na Móna Derryfadda works, Ballyforan, Ballinasloe, and in particular the potential for the engineering works and the industrial site.

I understand that there is a local initiative to establish such a task force, in which it is hoped to include representatives of the development agencies, including the county development teams. I understand further that Galway County Development Team have already approved a proposal that they should be represented on any task force by the county development officer. The Deputy will note that the county development teams are not directly involved in the formation of this task force. However, he may be assured that they will keep themselves informed of developments in this regard.
