Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - State-Sponsored Bodies.

Edward Nealon

Question:

156 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline in relation to (a) commercial and (b) non-commercial State-sponsored bodies under the aegis of his Department, (i) its name, (ii) the year of establishment, (iii) the level of fee for the chairman and ordinary directors, if applicable and (iv) when the fee was last fixed.

I have no commercial and two non-commercial State-sponsored bodies operating under the aegis of my Department. They are the Combat Poverty Agency and the Pensions Board.

The Combat Poverty Agency was established in 1986. The chairman and members of the board do not receive fees. Expenses similar to those given to civil servants are paid in respect of travelling and subsistence.

The Pensions Board was established in 1990. The chairperson receives a fee of £2,000 per annum and members a fee of £800 per annum. These fees were set when the Pensions Board was established. Expenses similar to those given to civil servants are paid in respect of travelling and subsistence.
