Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Application.

Ivan Yates

Question:

159 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Justice if there is a current application for Irish citizenship from a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in his Department; if this has been processed and approved; and if this person will have to make a fresh application in order to obtain an Irish passport.

The person to whom the Deputy refers applied for naturalisation in 1975 but as he was intending to take up employment outside the country he was advised that his application could not be approved at that time. He expressed an interest in reactivating his application in 1978 but did not pursue the matter. In 1982 he again applied for naturalisation but there is no record of his returning the application form sent to him at that time.

If he now wishes to reapply for naturalisation it will be necessary for him to complete a fresh application form. I am arranging to have an application form sent to him.
