Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Homeless Boys.

Richard Bruton

Question:

161 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice whether he has investigated the recent evidence that young homeless boys in Dublin were becoming involved in male prostitution, some of which was on an organised basis to Belfast; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not the practice for the Minister for Justice to give detailed information to the House about specific Garda investigations except in singular instances where the circumstances of an investigation are so exceptional that such a course is deemed to be appropriate. I do not propose to make any statement in this case other than to say that I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the matter is the subject of a Garda investigation.
