Vol. 407 No. 9

Written Answers. - Lighting on Motorcycles.

Joe Sherlock

Question:

55 Mr. Sherlock asked the Minister for the Environment the scientific basis on which he has decided to introduce compulsory daytime headlights for motorcyclists on 1 January 1992; if he has considered the case made by the Irish Bikers Action Group arguing against compulsory headlights; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 229 and 238 of 17 April 1991.

I understand the the Irish Bikers' Action Group propose to send me a detailed submission on the subject of daytime use of dimmed headlights by motor cyclists. I will give this full consideration when I receive it.
