Vol. 408 No. 1

Written Answers. - School Equipment Contract.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

157 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education if it is intended to award or have awarded a contract to a company (details supplied) for the supply of equipment; if that company had tendered with others for the contract; whether all the requirements relating to the awarding of contracts by a Government Department have been complied with; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I take it that the Deputy is referring to the contracts for the supply of computer equipment to second level schools in connection with the leaving certificate vocational programme. If this is the case, the position is that tenders were sought through public advertisement and contracts were placed in accordance with normal procedures of my Department.

According to the records of my Department in relation to this particular contract, a tender was not received from the company to which the Deputy has referred.
