Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy D. Ahern — The boarding of a yacht in Carlingford Lough, County Louth on Sunday 5 May 1991 which resulted in the hospitalisation of a female member of the crew; (2) Deputy McEllistrim — If the Taoiseach will investigate the reason a bench warrant was issued for the arrest of a TD for nonattendance at the circuit court in Tralee especially in view of the fact that no "pairing arrangement" in the Dáil existed this week and if he will ascertain if Dáil attendance takes priority over such matters; (3) Deputy G. Reynolds — The proposals of Teagasc towards the development of their transmission farm at Ballinamore, County Leitrim; (4) Deputy J. Higgins — The need for the Minister for Education to request the Higher Education Authority to examine the possibility of a college of music for the west; (5) Deputy De Rossa — The reported current impasse in the Brooke talks over the venue for the second phase of the talks; (6) Deputy McCartan — The position of a Palestinian man who has been seeking political asylum in Ireland since 1984 and the failure of the Minister for Justice to determine this long outstanding request; (7) Deputy J. Bruton — The tragic situation in Bangladesh and the need to call an emergency EC summit on the subject; (8) Deputy Cotter — The closure of the laundry service at Monaghan General Hospital and St. Davnett's Hospital and the consequent job losses; (9) Deputy Farrelly — If the Minister for Industry and Commerce has had any negotiations with prospective investors who recently visited the Zenith plant in Kells, County Meath, with the intention of purchasing the plant and to replace the 260 jobs lost in 1990; (10) Deputy Noonan (Limerick East)— The provision of a language disorder unit for young children in Limerick, as requested by the Language Disorder Support Group, mid-west branch and (11) Deputy Ryan — The delay in proceeding with the construction of the proposed Fingal Community college, Swords.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: Deputy J. Bruton, Deputy McCartan and Deputy Ryan.
