Vol. 408 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Doctors Group.

Austin Currie

Question:

81 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Health whether the Minister of State at his Department has held a meeting with the Tallaght and Clondalkin doctors group; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that the Minister of State held such a meeting in his capacity as Deputy for the area.

A review of the new terms for participating doctors has been completed recently under the chairmanship of Mr. John Horgan, former chairman of the Labour Court. The review report covers a number of aspects of the scheme including the position of doctors in certain urban areas who claim that the consequences of the new payments system have not been as beneficial to them as the national figures would suggest. The report is being considered by the Irish Medical Organisation.
