Vol. 408 No. 2

Written Answers - County Longford National School Building Projects.

Louis J. Belton

Question:

19 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for Education when she will give the go ahead to building projects awaiting sanction in the primary school sector for County Longford.

The position in relation to the national schools' building projects in County Longford is as follows:

(1) Adaptations to Ballinamuck — former vocational school

The school authorities have recently been authorised to proceed with the placing of the contract.

(2) Kenagh national school

Tenders for the proposed new school have been received and examined. The question of the placing of the contract is being considered and a decision in this regard will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.

(3) Newtownforbes national schools

Tender documents have been completed for the proposed extension to the boys' national school which will cater for the amalgamation with the convent school. The question of the invitation of tenders for the project is being considered and a decision in this regard will be conveyed to the school authorities as early as possible.
