99 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of all recorded crime in the Dublin metropolitan district which involves mechanically propelled vehicles.

102 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of stolen mechanically propelled vehicles in the Dublin metropolitan district which are involved in road traffic accidents.

103 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the number of mechanically propelled vehicles stolen on an average day in Dublin; and if he will break down this figure into cars, lorries, motor cycles and others.

The information sought by the Deputy in relation to the Dublin metropolitan area which is readily available is set out in the tabular statements (1) and (2) below. The other information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could only be obtained by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

104 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the percentage of shop lifting which is committed by juveniles in the Dublin metropolitan district.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information sought is not readily available and could be obtained only by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.

105 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the cost of school vandalism each year in the Dublin metropolitan district.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the information which is readily available relates to the total estimated cost of recorded cases of arson and malicious damage to schools. The relevant information in relation to the Dublin metropolitan area in 1988, 1989 and the provisional figure in 1990 is given in the tabular statement below:

106 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of all young offenders who are under 17 years in the Dublin metropolitan district.

Persons admitted to the juvenile liaison scheme are those who have acknowledged their offence and have agreed to co-operate with the advice and supervision of the Garda Juvenile Liaison Service — thus avoiding court proceedings in consequence of their offence.

107 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of burglaries in the Dublin metropolitan district which are through unlocked doors and windows.

108 Dr. Lee asked the Minister for Justice the percentage of burglaries in the Dublin metropolitan district which are committed on unoccupied houses; and the number of these committed between (1) 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and (2) 6 p.m. and 9 a.m.

The information which is readily available relates to the level of burglaries recorded and detected for the Dublin metropolitan area, in respect of (1) dwellings — including houses, flats etc. and (2) other premises. The relevant figures for 1989 and provisional figures for 1990 are set out in the tabular statement below. The other information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could be obtained only by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources.
