Vol. 408 No. 4

Written Answers. - Speed Limits Regulations.

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

130 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for the Environment when his Department will approve a request submitted by Cork County Council in 1990 for approval of a list in the three yearly division of speed limits.

Comprehensive speed limit regulations for Cork City and County came into effect in January 1987. In September 1988, Cork County Council submitted proposals to my Department for amendments to the regulations dealing only with the South Cork area. As it is the practice to deal with revisions of speed limits on a county-wide basis only, the 1988 proposals were returned to the council with a request that they be resubmitted, in due course, with proposals for the whole county and in conjunction with a submission for the county borough. No such resubmission has to date been received.
