25 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications the up-to-date position regarding the decentralisation of Telecom Éireann and/or present or future subsidiaries to Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
At present 54 per cent of the staff of Telecom Eireann are located outside of the Dublin area. Discussions between my Department and Telecom Éireann on decentralisation are continuing.
As I am committed to the maximum possible amount of decentralisation, I will impress on Telecom Éireann the need to look again at further decentralisation, including decentralising staff to Waterford.
