Question:103 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total amount of money paid out under the supplementary welfare allowance scheme in the form of rent subsidy by his Department through the health boards in 1989 and 1990.

The information requested by the Deputy on rent supplementation under the supplementary welfare allowance scheme is not available. Statistics compiled by health boards are not maintained in such a way as to provide this information. I am examining ways of having information of this kind made available on a systematic basis in the future.
