Vol. 408 No. 4

Written Answers. - Land Registry Delays.

Ivor Callely

Question:

108 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice if he is concerned with the long delays in applicants for registration of title in respect of property already registered in the Land Registry; and if he will outline the priority procedure in place to deal with cases requiring urgent consideration.

Details of the steps I am taking to deal with the problem of delays at the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds are set out in my answers to questions by Deputy Michael Bell on 5 February 1991 and by Deputy Eamon Gilmore on 2 May 1991.

I am informed that it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Any such case will be specially considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the registrar.
