Vol. 408 No. 5

Written Answers. - Air Corps Aircraft.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

43 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline (a) the aircraft which are operated by the Air Corps for ministerial transport, (b) the number of these, if any, which are the property of the State, (c) the number of these which are leased and the terms of such lease and (d) whether he plans to make any new acquisitions this year.

The aircraft operated by the Air Corps for the purpose of the Ministerial Air Transport Service comprise a Gulfstream III jet aircraft, a HS 125 jet aircraft and a Beech Kingair turbo prop aircraft, which is used as a replacement aircraft.

The HS 125 aircraft and the Beech Kingair aircraft were purchased in 1980 and are the property of my Department.

The Gulfstream III jet aircraft is leased on a monthly rental basis.

A contract was recently placed by my Department for the acquisition of a Gulfstream IV aircraft, the delivery of which is expected later in 1991.

The lease of the Gulfstream III aircraft will be terminated on delivery of the new aircraft.
