Vol. 408 No. 5

Written Answers. - Castletownbere (Cork) Ice Plant.

Patrick McCartan

Question:

46 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for the Marine the plans he has to improve access by fishing vessels to the ice plant at Castletownbere, County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Access for fishing boats to the ice plant at Castletownbere has been impeded by other fishing boats from time to time. Steps taken to remedy the situation include signposting the ice plant berthage and advising all pier users of the need to keep this berthage clear to permit ease of access to the ice plant. The situation will be kept under review to ensure that a supply of ice will be readily available to fishing boats which need it.
