Vol. 408 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Waterford School Entrance Danger.

John Fahey

Question:

60 Mr. J. Fahey asked the Minister for Education if, in view of the danger to children at the entrance and in the playground at Crehanagh/Carrick Beg national school, in County Waterford, due to a very bad bend on the road, permission has been sought from her Department and the Office of Public Works by the board of management, to allow them carry out the necessary work on a voluntary basis with the assistance of Waterford County Council; and if so, the reason permission has not been granted.

The board of management of Crehanagh-Carrick Beg national school is seeking grant-aid from my Department in respect of improving a dangerous bend on the Carrick-Dungarvan Road.

While this is essentially a matter for the Waterford County Council, my Department are at present awaiting a report from its professional advisers with regard to any improvements required in relation to access to the school.
