Vol. 408 No. 7

Written Answers. - Land Commission Annuity Arrears.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

79 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will give consideration to offering an amnesty on interest outstanding on Land Commission annuities in the case of farmers who have great difficulty in meeting the cost of payment of annuities on land purchased when the price of land was excessively high.

Where genuine hardship exists, my Department are always prepared to adopt a sympathetic approach in regard to arrears of land annuities. Each case is considered on its merits and if the Deputy has particular cases in mind, I will be pleased to have them examined.
