Vol. 409 No. 9

Written Answers. - Limerick Schools Extension.

Michael Noonan

Question:

151 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the processing of the plans to build an extension to a school (details supplied) in Limerick; if she will expedite the application with a view to sanctioning a start-up at the earliest possible date; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The preparation of tender documents for the proposed extension to the school in Limerick referred to by the Deputy is in hand and these will be completed at the earliest possible date. The question of the invitation of tenders for the project will then be considered and a decision conveyed promptly to the school authorities.

The Deputy will appreciate that the whole process of architectural planning, including the securing of local authority planning permission, is necessarily time consuming, particularly having regard to the large volume of work on hand.
