Question:

42 Mr. Brady asked the Taoiseach the annual value of the Irish pound in its purchasing power over the past 20 years.

The amount, estimated on the basis of the consumer price index, which would have been required in each of the past 20 years to purchase the same quantities of consumer goods and services at retail prices as £1 would have purchased in 1970 are supplied in the table below.
