Vol. 410 No. 2

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ellis — the continued closure of Dromod railway bridge, County Leitrim, and the failure of Iarnród Éireann to carry out the necessary repair work to allow the bridge to be reopened; (2) Deputy Kavanagh — if the Minister for the Environment intends to hold an investigation into the horrific crash involving a CIE bus which injured up to some 50 people on the N11 on 1 July on a stretch of the road which has been repaired on several occasions and which recently has been the scene of a fatal accident, as well as numerous other accidents; (3) Deputy Yates — if a full inquiry will be held into the causes and circumstances of the bus accident yesterday on the Dublin-Rosslare route; if so, the terms of the inquiry and when will it be carried out; and the arrangements which have been made for the health and welfare of those involved and their families; (4) Deputy Fennell — if the Minister for Justice will explain how computer printouts of private personal information on workers in Hallmark Cards were given to children in a Dublin school; and if he will make a statement on the matter; (5) Deputy J. Higgins — the need for the Minister for Education to make financial provision for the payment of substitute teachers for whole-time permanent teachers who undertake special courses to train as remedial teachers; (6) Deputy Cotter — the flood damage in Castleblayney, County Monaghan, caused by a freak thunderstorm.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies: (1) Deputy Yates; (2) Deputy Kavanagh; (3) Deputy J. Higgins.
