Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Display of County Clare Artefacts.

Donal Carey

Question:

199 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Finance if he will instruct his officials to send the artefacts and other items which were recovered on Inis Cealtra, Lough Derg, County Clare during the seventies to the Mountshannon Community Association who have acquired a suitable building for this purpose and are quite willing to make it available for the display of these items.

I would suggest that the Mountshannon Community Association contact the Commissioners of Public Works directly about their request. Some of the artefacts in question are in the care of the commissioners pending the completion of a report on the archaeological excavation. The National Museum of Ireland will need to be consulted regarding the ultimate location of the artefacts.
