Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Moneys Owing to Fóir Teoranta.

Peter Barry

Question:

200 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Finance the up-to-date position on the amount of money still due by clients of Fóir Teoranta; the way this compares with the amounts due when Fóir Teoranta were wound up; whether interest is being paid on these moneys, and if he will outline the firms and the amounts due both in capital and interest in each case.

The net book value of loans and investments of Foir Teoranta at the time of their wind-up on 2 April 1991 was £12,765,541. Since then, an amount of £612,545 has been repaid up to 30 September 1991, along with £267,068 in interest and dividends. In accordance with the Fóir Teoranta (Dissolution) Act, 1990, the Industrial Credit Corporation plc will prepare audited accounts of the former Fóir Teoranta portfolio, copies of which will be laid before each House of the Oireachtas.

It is not the practice and has not been since 1982 to reveal the names of the client firms involved, or the individual amounts owed by them.
