294 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the number of people who received supplementary welfare allowance in respect of rent payments in 1990 (a) in Drogheda and (b) County Louth; and the cost of these payments in 1990.
The information requested by the Deputy is not available.
However, in County Louth as a whole approximately 150 rent supplements and 50 mortgage supplements are in payment in a typical week at present. Corresponding expenditure per week is in the region of £3,000 and £1,400 respectively.
