Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - Parking of Vehicles at School Entrances.

Nora Owen

Question:

455 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department have issued as promised new regulations relating to parking of vehicles adjacent to schools; and if not when such regulations will issue.

The proposal to implement a ban on the stopping and parking of vehicles at school entrances will be given effect by the introduction of traffic signs regulations, determining the design features of the required traffic sign, and by the making of local traffic and parking by-laws or temporary rules to give effect to the use of that sign. I will make the necessary regulations to provide for the traffic sign within the next few weeks. The making of local traffic and parking by-laws or temporary rules is a matter for the Garda Commissioner.
