512 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if he will now supply the necessary information which was requested in Parliamentary Question No. 160 of 30 April, 1991 in view of the fact that he stated in his reply that he was compiling the information and that he would let Deputy Allen have it as soon as possible but, to date, he has failed to do so.
The information requested by the Deputy has now been compiled by my Department and is set out in the following tabular statement.
The level of temporary staffing in the health system is the subject of on-going review by my Department. As the Deputy will appreciate, the need to provide for fluctuations in activity and staff turnover requires that a certain degree of temporary employment be maintained. However, every effort is made to ensure that this is kept to the lowest possible level consistent with the efficient operation of services.
