Roger T. Garland

Question:

28 Mr. Garland asked the Taoiseach if, in relation to the investigation into the case of the Tallaght Two which was referred to the Attorney General one year ago, he will outline whether this report has yet been completed; if so, to whom it has been presented; whether the report will be published; if so, when; the reason for the delay in having the investigation completed and the report published; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

110 Mr. Garland asked the Taoiseach whether he has received the report of the Director of Public Prosecutions on the Tallaght Two case; if so, when it will be published; the reason for the delay in finalising this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos 28 and 110 together.

The House will be aware that the former Attorney General requested the Director of Public Prosecutions to prepare a report on the case referred to by the Deputy. I am informed by the Attorney General that an extensive and detailed report was furnished by the Director, that complex issues are involved and that it will take time to examine its contents fully. While this examination is proceeding as quickly as possible, the Attorney General is not in a position to say when exactly the matter will be finalised. The House will appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me in the circumstances to make any further comment on the matter at this time.
