585 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Education whether it is the policy of her Department not to sanction the permanent appointment of teachers in VEC schools where the points to create such appointments arise from ESF-funded courses.
As a general rule, my Department do not sanction permanent posts in respect of ESF-funded programmes because such programmes are subject to change and are sanctioned on a year-to-year basis only.
My Department are currently discussing this matter with the relevant interests.
