Question:

644 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education when a road safety complaint lodged by a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary will be investigated and a resolution proposed; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose taking Questions Nos. 642, 643 and 644 together.

The question of road safety at this school referred to by the Deputy is a matter for Waterford County Council. However, my Department's local architect has been in frequent contact with the school authorities in the matter and has advised them fully.

I understand that the carpets referred to by the Deputy have now been provided and a decision regarding payment will be conveyed to the school authorites shortly.

The certification for the payment of the grant in respect of the furniture was received in my Department on 11 October last. Payment will be made at an early date.
