Vol. 411 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny National School Projects.

Liam Aylward

Question:

687 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in having sketch plans for the proposed extension to a national school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny sent to the school authorities to enable them to seek local authority planning permission.

The preparation of a sketch plan for the proposed extension to the national school in County Kilkenny referred to by the Deputy is well advanced. It will be completed at the earliest possible date when it will be sent to the school authorities to enable them to seek planning permission. The delay in completing the sketch plan is due to the large volume of drawing work on the national school building programme.

Question:

688 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if her Department has any plans for the provision of an extension to a national school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where there is serious overcrowding and where the extension is urgently required.

My Department's professional staff are examining the whole question of accommodation at the national school in County Kilkenny referred to by the Deputy. When their reports have been received and considered my Department will communicate with the school authorities in the matter.

In view of the Deputy's interest I will communicate with him at that point as well.
